On July 24th, the world will find out if Hello Games is finally ready to live up to the promises made years ago. In the newest No Man’s Sky trailer, the developers of 2016’s most controversial game will either put money where their mouth is or fail as spectacularly as they did the first time.

This time around, Hello Games is promising ‘a full multiplayer experience.’ In the article posted on their website, the developers provided the following clauses for their claim:

Multiplayer

  • Team up a small team of friends and explore the universe together, or be joined by random travelers.

  • You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive.

  • Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players.

  • Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies.

  • Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online.

  • Character customisation allows you to personalise your appearance.

Additionally, the NEXT update offers an overhaul to base-building, allowing players to build their bases wherever they wish on any planet, explore ‘dramatically increased base-building complexity and size’ options, and own multiple bases.

Other alleged improvements include a visual overhaul, the ability to play in third person, and personal fleets in both single and multiplayer gameplay. Based on the trailer, underwater exploration seems to be on the cards as well.

Check out the trailer here and keep an eye on Respawning in the coming weeks to find out if No Man’s Sky finally flies.
