Earlier today Nintendo of America announced on twitter that due to the powerful earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan they would be delaying the Direct that was originally scheduled to take place at 11pm BST today. There is no specific date yet but Nintendo have stated they will be revealing a new date and time for the Direct “in the near future.”

Recently extreme weather has been effecting the region of Japan with last night bringing a 6.7 magnitude earthquake. The event has caused landslides, trapping people in their own homes. This follows a previous incident where Japan was struck by Typhoon Jebi, leaving at least 11 dead and more than 100 injured. The typhoon was even seen to have caused some minor structural damage to the Nintendo building there.

While we await news for the safety of all Nintendo employees in the region and of the future direct. Respawning wishes the best to everyone and are sending prayers for those effected in Japan.
