Roboto Games has opened registration for the Stormforge public playtest, giving survival crafting fans their first shot at the game’s storm-battered fantasy world this July.
As per the press release, sign-ups are now live on Steam. The announcement also arrived with a fresh gameplay trailer, shown during the Women-Led Games Showcase. So yes, if you enjoy co-op survival, magical disasters, and trees being hurled about like nature’s own fastball special, Stormforge may be one to watch.
Stormforge is a cel-shaded fantasy open-world survival crafting game from Roboto Games. It supports up to eight players in co-op and drops them into a world overrun by magical storms.
These storms are not just moody skyboxes, either. Tornadoes can fling rocks, trees, and enemies into the air. Dust storms can cut visibility and damage players. Each storm brings its own mechanics, dangers, creatures, and powerful resources, which sounds delightfully stressful in the best survival game way.
Stormforge lets players mix classes and abilities
Players begin their adventure as a warrior, mage, or ranger. From there, they can unlock extra classes by defeating bosses.
However, Stormforge does not lock players into one neat little fantasy box. Instead, players can mix and match skills and abilities across unlocked classes. That means you can build your own playstyle, whether that is a sneaky warrior or a mage who prefers solving crowd control with a jump attack.
Each survived storm and explored dungeon grants new skills, with 100 available in total.
“Giving players the freedom to decide how to play Stormforge has been our top priority since the very beginning,” said Mathilde Pignol, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Roboto Games.
“We’ve been hearing from our community during our private tests, and we’ve developed character classes based on their feedback: if you would like to play as a warrior with sneaking abilities, you can; a mage who can damage large groups of enemies with a jump attack? No problem. You can mix and match abilities and skills from your classes, and play Stormforge your way.”
Stormforge Early Access is planned for 2026
Stormforge can be wishlisted now on Steam, ahead of its planned Early Access launch in 2026.
Players who want to brave the public playtest can sign up through Steam. They can also keep up with Roboto Games through the game’s Discord and the studio’s X, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook channels.
Storms, dungeons, class-mixing, and up to eight-player chaos? That is quite the survival crafting checklist.
