The free demo for Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon has launched on Steam, giving players their first chance to become a space trucker and find out just how unfriendly the final frontier can be.
Developed by Two Cakes Studio and Satellite235, the demo arrived on August 17, 2026. It mixes cargo hauling, tactical turn-based combat, crew management and a living galactic economy, all while giving you just one life to make it count.
Space trucking gets complicated quickly
In Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon, players captain their own freight ship across dangerous stretches of space. You will chart routes between distant stations, fulfil orders and hunt for profitable trading opportunities.
Of course, it would be a fairly quiet game if everyone simply let you deliver the cargo.
Pirates control trade routes, an unknown alien threat has shattered the fragile peace, and the Trade Federation is struggling to keep things together. Along the way, players can also encounter new allies, mysterious disaster sites and hostile ships.
Every turn represents a new day in space. That brings random encounters, difficult decisions and plenty of opportunities for things to go horribly wrong.
Combat plays out in tactical turn-based battles. Players can target individual components on enemy ships for strategic advantages, while mines, torpedoes and missiles provide additional ways to ruin somebody else’s day. The demo can throw up to three hostile ships at you at once.
Manage your ship, crew and cargo
Your ship can be customised to suit how you want to play. Hulls, weapons, shields and cargo capacity can all be upgraded as you progress.
Crew members are just as important. Each has their own role aboard the ship, with Commanders improving your combat accuracy, Navigators helping uncover opportunities and Engineers dealing with hull breaches.
Both your captain and crew members also have talent trees to develop.
Then there is the small matter of actually making some money. Players can deliver cargo for payouts or speculate on market prices across a dynamic economy.
As per the announcement, station populations, faction control and changing supply and demand can all affect trade routes. Just remember that your crew still expects to get paid. Apparently exposure is not accepted as currency in deep space either.
Your choices can reshape the galaxy
The Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon demo also includes the first chapter of its branching story.
Beyond ordinary freight jobs, narrative quests will uncover more of the galaxy’s mysteries. Different sectors feature their own story chains, with player decisions affecting how events unfold.
You might mediate conflicts between factions, expose conspiracies or help communities survive. Some decisions alter individual storylines, while others can change entire regions and open new possibilities.
Whether you’re chasing profit, looking for glory or simply hoping to survive another jump, Stellar Freight: Endless Horizon’s free demo is available now on Steam.
One delivery. One decision. One increasingly questionable trip through hostile space at a time.
