The FPS Metroidvania will launch on PICO as Genotype moves to yet another platform.

Genotype, a Metroidvania-style FPS adventure from Bolverk Games, is set for a worldwide release on PICO Thursday, March 14, at 02 UTC. That translates to Wednesday evening in the USA.

Chinese VR gamers must unfortunately wait another month before entering the Antarctic research facility, “Snowdrop Initiative,” which hosts the immersive combat and exploration game.

Regular updates

PICO will be the fourth platform to host Genotype, already available on the Meta Quest goggles, Rift, and Steam. Later this spring, PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR2) owners will also be able to purchase the Polar adventure.

Genotype recently received its fifth update since its release, a massive combat package that adjusted fight mechanics, weapons, the upgrade system, several combat environments, and more.

Unique weapons

Genotype has a unique creature-based weapons system that grows on your hand and has a variety of uses. Mainly, you kill monsters and beasts with it, but it also allows you to morph yourself tiny. The weapons system and gun creatures can all be upgraded several times in different ways to allow you to adjust your build to your play style.

Quality levels are the usual top-tier standards from Bolverk Games. So,
Enjoy high-fidelity graphics that fully exploit the Meta Quest platforms’ graphical potential.
– Immerse yourself in an emotional narrative with fully voice-acted characters.
– Experience a strange world with truly alien sound design and atmospheric synth-scapes.

You play as Evely, an intern at an Antarctic weather station. During a routine expedition, Evely falls through the ice into the mysterious Snowdrop Initiative laboratories. Luckily, the facility’s last human survivor, William, can guide her to save herself — and the entire planet.
