Publisher Dotemu (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Streets of Rage 4) and developer Leikir Studio (Rogue Lords, Synergy) are proud to announce that the first-ever playable demo of Metal Slug Tactics, the tactical adaptation of the action game legend, is available as part of the Steam Neo Fest taking place from June 10 to 17 on Steam. The full game will be released this fall on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

This good news comes with a gameplay trailer that focuses on the combat of Metal Slug Tactics, a complete and bold reinterpretation of METAL SLUG’s action mantra. The Metal Slug Tactics demo brings together the seasoned warriors of the franchise, in the first region of the game, for highly tactical and particularly intense combat. You start in the squad’s barracks, which serves as a rear base to upgrade your troops and buy equipment. It’s also where you have to choose which crooks to team up on the next mission: consider each of your warriors’ unique abilities – and their potential synergies – before deploying them together on the battlefield to take down the franchise’s iconic enemies, as well as a few new faces. It’s even possible to unlock Tarma, a powerful and energetic comrade-in-arms who will prove his worth in boss battles… of the full version of Metal Slug Tactics!
Both a vibrant tribute and a bold new approach to a historic video game license, Metal Slug Tactics offers a hair-raising aesthetic with chiseled pixel art and delicious animations as the essence of the game. This new episode is a natural addition to the building of this mythical series, whose significant imagery has accompanied players for more than 25 years. The levels are random arrangements of different hand-drawn tiles, adding a roguelite dimension perfectly in line with the dynamic and strategic combat system. Equipped with METAL SLUG’s iconic weapons and boosted by skill trees, perks and special attacks that rely on an all-new adrenaline system, face off against an unpredictable army of iconic villains from this iconic 90’s series. Metal Slug Tactics is developed by Leikir Studio, with the support of Dotemu and license access provided by SNK, its owner. Its soundtrack is composed by Tee Lopes, who has already worked on TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Sonic Mania and the Mr. X Nightmare DLC for Streets of Rage 4.
