Solo developer, Rat Cliff Games is today thrilled to announce that an updated demo for its upcoming first-person survival horror title Among Ashes is now available to download for PC as part of Steam Next Fest.
To coincide with the demo relaunch, dark and evocative new key art has been created for the game, which has also been selected to participate in The Indie Horror Showcase, which airs on 24th October. Don’t hesitate to tune in for some important new information.
Among Ashes is a metafictional horror title about a haunted video game and the disturbing story behind its creation. It’s a stormy night in the early 2000s and your friend has sent you a link to Night Call, a horror game that he found online. As you play, strange things start happening in your apartment. Something is terribly wrong with the game.
The perfect experience for dark October nights, the updated demo gives players an enticing taste of the game’s opening sequence, in which they download the mysterious video game ‘Night Call’ from unsettling online forum post, before loading in to explore the atmospheric and labyrinthian halls of Stoker Manor; coming face-to-face with the terrors that reside within.
Among Ashes features an innovative, meta-framing device in which players will experience a full retro-inspired first-person survival horror game within another first-person horror game, in addition to a host of unique presentational touches, mechanics and puzzles that transport players back to the turn of the millennium – providing a terrifying dose of nostalgia in the process.

Among Ashes is now in development for PC and is currently scheduled to launch later this year. A demo is now available via Steam where you can also wishlist the game. For more information please visit the official Rat Cliff Games website, or follow on Twitter and Instagram.
