A Map shrouded in darkness. No perks. No Terror Radius. No Scratch Marks. Forget everything you know about Dead by Daylight Trials.

On Feb. 7, Dead by Daylight will release a special limited-time Modifier called Lights Out that adds a terrifying new layer of fear to the Trials players have grown accustomed to.

What’s a Modifier?

Modifiers are adjustments to the existing Trial format that offer a unique and exciting new way to play Dead by Daylight.

Kill the Lights

Running from Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. (EST) until Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. (EST), The Lights Out Modifier sets players in a terrifying atmosphere, stripped of several of the key tools they’re used to.

“With Lights Out we really wanted to ratchet up the horror and tension that’s at the core of our game,” says Michael Nielson, Game Design Team Lead on Dead by Daylight. “Our goal was to make Trials even more immersive and terrifying. There’s going to be lots of surprises as you never know what’s coming around the next corner!”

Dead by Daylight: Lights Out Details:

– For starters, players will find themselves on a Map shrouded in darkness with a limited UI, significantly limiting visibility and awareness of their surroundings.

– To further crank up the intensity, players will find that all the Perks they’ve come to rely on are now disabled. Survivors will also have to contend with a new challenge: the Killer no longer has a Terror Radius.

– To help even the odds, Survivors will no longer leave Scratch Marks, making them harder to track. And while players won’t be starting with any Items, there will be more Chests spread throughout the Map featuring higher quality Items to help complete the Trial.

Shaking up the Dead by Daylight formula that players have come to love, Lights Out is intended to be the first of several Modifiers that will be released in the near future. Lights Out will be accessible from the Dead by Daylight menu, in addition to the regular Trial format.
