This decade has had a fair few amazing games – It’s also the decade that I have gotten seriously into gaming! It all started actually around 2010, when my boyfriend at the time bought me an Xbox 360 and all the trimmings for Xbox Live… So seeming as this decade has been the decade I became a gamer, what better way to finish it with a review of my favourite games of this decade?

Call of Duty: Black Ops

So to kick off this list, we have Call of Duty Black Ops. I am a big Black Ops fan… Well, I’m a big Zombies fan. Black Ops was my first real console game since Spyro: Gateway to Glimmer (screw you its not called Ripto’s Rage)! I’d been largely a handheld gamer until this point; I absolutely loved Zombies. Honestly for me there was nothing better than fighting through waves of the horde – I’m going to go right ahead and include Black Ops II in this section too (the next two are just meh); I just remember playing these games for hours! I even got my dad to make me a full-size light up Mystery Box that’s in my bedroom to this day. If I had to pick a favourite map, it would be the Die Rise in Black Ops II… Closely followed by the western map, Buried.

Bioshock

Next has got to be Bioshock; now, I know it came out in 2007, but I didn’t play it (obviously) until a few years later. I couldn’t love this series any more! It’s amazing, and every time I return to a Bioshock game it feels like coming home. I’m so biased with them, I just think they’re all perfect… And you can’t convince me otherwise.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

Up next on this whistle stop tour of my decade in gaming is Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. I remember just being so entranced by the beauty of the whole game – For those who’ve played it, the fish tank moment always sticks in my head. I also loved the story and everything about Trip and Monkey.

Assassin’s Creed 2

Moving onwards we have Assassin’s Creed 2. I didn’t get far into the first Assassin’s Creed as it just didn’t click… But 2 was a game that I just couldn’t put down. My absolute favourite thing to do were the Glyphs; I always felt so satisfied when I managed to complete one of them! It was just a great game all round with a great story.

Viva Piñata

Now I couldn’t talk about my 360 games without mentioning Viva Piñata. Yes, I know it’s for children, but I loved collecting all the cute piñata and also liked how it tackled the real life animal world, as some pinata will eat others! In fact sometimes this mechanic is actually necessary to progress through the game.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Next up is a handheld title – Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I love New Leaf and still play it now! How can you not love Animal Crossing; it’s absolutely adorable. I love the seasons going through in real time, I love the NPC’s and the events and the world. I just love everything!

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

Another of my handheld hits is The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. I have lots of fun memories of this cute little game, and it was one of those games that again I was absolutely glued to. I liked the puzzles and the story, I mean it’s a Zelda game; what’s not to love?!

Professor Layton

To wrap up my handheld treasures, we have the Professor Layton series. I love love love logic puzzles, and I really really enjoy the cute little storylines and animated cutscenes in these games. It keeps my brain active and entertained! I still have a couple more to go through, so my journey isn’t over yet!

Finally are just a few mentions from the Wii; I won’t go into these massively because these are all on my Christmas Games List and they are Just Dance, Mario Kart Wii and Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party! These are games I have cherished playing with my family over the years and have provided hours of entertainment and laughs!

That concludes the first part of my games of this decade… Check out the next to see even more games I’ve loved!
