Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Call of Duty: Warzone are getting their first major seasonal update on 6 November 2026, bringing new multiplayer maps, weapons, game modes and plenty of additional content.

Season 1 introduces new multiplayer battlegrounds, including Backstab, Canyon and a reimagined Shoot House. Meanwhile, DMZ players can investigate the mysterious X01 facility, while Warzone expands with two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac.

There’s also a new Battle Pass, BlackCell content featuring Operator XERO and several limited-time events. However, players won’t have to wait until November to get started, as Halloween-themed modes Infected and Possession arrive on 30 October.

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Brings New Maps and Multiplayer Modes

Multiplayer is getting a substantial shake-up with more than six maps arriving throughout Season 1.

At launch, players can fight through the weather-beaten battlefield of Backstab, navigate the towering rock formations of Canyon and return to a redesigned version of Shoot House.

More maps will follow during the mid-season update, including Ministry, Overflow and several locations that Activision is keeping classified for now. Shipment has also joined the rotation ahead of the new season.

Season 1 introduces Kill Block: Crash, which features a static map layout with Crash remaining at the centre of the action. Additional Core Multiplayer modes will also be available.

As for game modes, the Halloween celebrations begin early with Infected and Possession arriving on 30 October.

Once Season 1 launches, the fan-favourite Grind mode returns alongside Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1, the latter appearing as part of the Wager Match Event. More modes are planned for the mid-season update.

DMZ Takes Players Into the Dangerous X01 Facility

DMZ players have a new location to investigate, and it doesn’t sound particularly welcoming.

The X01 facility is a former Russian installation near Hajin’s borders, now occupied by North Korean forces. Players will need to navigate sprawling cargo bays, vehicle depots, underground laboratories and production areas before reaching the sealed Deep Vault.

Of course, getting inside is only half the problem.

The facility features shifting hazards, maze-like tunnels and extraction points that can become inaccessible. Squads will need to coordinate their movements, prepare the right equipment and complete specific objectives to escape successfully.

Ghost will guide players through new DMZ Orders as they investigate X01, although details about the threats waiting inside remain classified.

Season 1 also introduces new equipment and DMZ events, including special Commander Hunts and additional activities offering rewards.

New Weapons, Warzone Maps and Season 1 Battle Pass Rewards

There’s plenty happening outside the new multiplayer maps and DMZ facility, too.

Season 1 adds four weapons across its launch and mid-season content:

  • Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle: Available through the Season 1 Battle Pass.
  • CSG-35 SMG: Another Battle Pass weapon arriving at launch.
  • JAK 12 Shotgun: A fully automatic shotgun joining the arsenal later in the season.
  • ZLR Talonhawk: A new melee axe arriving later in Season 1.

Players can also experiment with additional weapon attachments, including two new Apex Attachments.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Warzone will introduce the Hajin and Zodiac maps. More information about Warzone’s Season 1 content is scheduled for 2 November.

The Season 1 Battle Pass features a linear progression system spanning 100 tiers, with free and premium rewards available throughout.

Rewards include Weapon Blueprints, Operator Skins, Calling Cards, Finishing Moves and Emotes. Purchasing the premium Battle Pass provides access to more than 50 guaranteed rewards.

BlackCell also returns, this time led by Operator XERO. Players can purchase BlackCell separately or receive its content through the Vault Edition.

Beyond the Battle Pass, Season 1 introduces the Wager Match Event, Weapon Camo Events and other opportunities to earn cosmetic rewards and weapon attachments.

The Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Valor Pack is also available for Warzone, giving players another way to support military veterans.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone Season 1 launches on 6 November 2026, with Halloween multiplayer modes arriving a week earlier on 30 October.

Between the new maps, DMZ challenges, weapons and events, there’s certainly no shortage of things to shoot at. Or run away from, depending on how that extraction goes.
