Bandai Namco has officially announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3, bringing the free-to-play team combat series back for another round of giant robot warfare on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Revealed during the Gundam Games 40th anniversary livestream, the latest entry promises improved visuals, expanded tactical gameplay and cross-play between PS5 and PC. There’s no confirmed release date just yet, but Gundam fans have plenty of new features to look forward to.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 Expands the Battlefield

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 builds on the series’ combined-arms combat, with players taking on the role of mercenaries piloting Mobile Suits in large-scale team battles.

However, it’s not all about stomping around in enormous machines. Players can also leave their Mobile Suits and fight on foot, planting bombs at enemy bases, calling in support fire and capturing strategic objectives.

The game will feature Mobile Suits from both the Universal Century and Alternative Universe timelines, with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED joining the roster at launch. Bandai Namco also plans to introduce additional Gundam series through future updates.

Visually, the sequel promises more detailed Mobile Suits and improved battlefield environments, aiming to make those giant mechanical showdowns even more impressive.

New SP Skills, Battle Assist and Cross-Play

Beyond the expanded roster, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 introduces several gameplay improvements designed to make combat more tactical and accessible.

New SP Skills give individual Mobile Suits unique abilities, helping define their roles during team battles. Choosing the right machine for the job could make all the difference when things start getting chaotic.

Meanwhile, the new Battle Assist feature aims to make executing combos easier, alongside a redesigned user interface that should help players keep track of the action.

Cross-play is also confirmed between PlayStation 5 and Steam, allowing players on both platforms to join the same battles. It’s a welcome addition for a game built around large-scale multiplayer combat.

Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 will launch as a free-to-play title on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, although Bandai Namco hasn’t announced a release date or launch window.
