Toronto’s getting jumped again, and this time you can do something about it. Scott Pilgrim EX is available digitally right now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, priced at $28.99. As per the press release, this is a brand-new, standalone beat ‘em up adventure in the Scott Pilgrim universe, co-written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and Tribute Games.

A fresh Scott Pilgrim beat ‘em up, built by people who clearly care
This one comes from Tribute Games, the team behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, working with Universal Products & Experiences. The studio says it’s packed with the kind of love only Canadian Scott Pilgrim superfans and beat ‘em up experts can deliver, including staff who worked on the previous Scott Pilgrim video game.
The goal is simple: make Scott Pilgrim EX feel like it was made for fans by fans, with a world that sticks closely to the series’ style, plus a cast where each fighter has their own mechanics based on their personality and in-universe abilities.
Gideon Graves is in, and the roster hits seven playable characters
The launch trailer also confirms a big addition: Gideon Graves is joining the fight.
As per the press release, Gideon is billed as “the evilest ex of all”, bringing the final roster to seven unique playable characters. Tribute Games describes his fighting style as a relentless offence, with the kind of pressure that suits anyone who thinks “defence” is just “punch first, keep punching”.
Basically, Gideon has left the board room and decided your face looks like a problem.
The plot: stolen instruments, bad vibes, and a tour of Toronto’s worst hangouts
When evil hits Toronto and steals Sex Bob-Omb’s instruments, it’s up to Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and a “wait, them?” crew of allies to save the band (and the world).
Expect brawls across streets, alleys, beaches and vampire castles, with battles against vegans, demons and robots. You’ll also be levelling up, completing quests, and hunting down bosses who have hoarded the instruments. Find them, flatten them, and clear the way for the band’s next gig.
New Anamanaguchi music, plus Hot Topic gear if you want to dress the part
Scott Pilgrim EX also comes with all-new music scored and performed by Anamanaguchi, described here as Scott Pilgrim alumni.
To mark the launch, Hot Topic (playfully renamed ‘Cold Topic’ in-game) has released exclusive Scott Pilgrim EX tees and a tank inspired by the game’s art, available now on HotTopic.com.
