Time to pack your bags, Travellers — Genshin Impact just dropped its annual mega-update, and it’s a big one. Version Luna I: A Dance of Snowy Tides and Hoarfrost Groves launches today, bringing us a brand-new region, a fresh cast of heroes, and a mountain of rewards to celebrate the game’s fifth birthday.

Welcome to Nod-Krai

Teyvat’s seventh major region is finally open. Nod-Krai isn’t just frosty landscapes and moonlit mysteries — it’s where the Fatui Harbinger “Marionette” has set up shop, and where an ominous plot to harness the moon’s power slowly unravels. Expect high-stakes Archon Quests, plenty of familiar faces in Nasha Town, and even Columbina making her comeback as the so-called Moon Maiden.

New Heroes Join the Fight

Three new playable characters are stepping up, and they’re not just pretty faces:

  • Lauma (5-star Catalyst, Dendro) — introduces the shiny new Lunar-Bloom Reaction.
  • Flins (5-star Polearm, Electro) — a lantern-wielding Lightkeeper who can sense the Wild Hunt.
  • Aino (4-star Claymore) — free to recruit by following the Archon Quest.

For banners: Lauma and Nahida headline the first half, while Flins, Aino, and Yelan take the second.

More Than Just Combat

Characters now feel more alive than ever. Lauma has animal companions lending a hand, Flins can literally hear the Wild Hunt’s whispers, and Aino gets unique interactions with her own massive invention, the “Knuckle Duckle.” New “Meeting Points” let you peek into your party’s downtime, whether it’s swapping legends or sharing quiet moments.

Anniversary Rewards Galore

To mark five years of Genshin, HoYoverse is being generous. Log in to claim:

  • A free 5-star character of your choice (plus mats to level them to 60)
  • 10 Intertwined Fate

HoYoFair Returns

The anniversary party doesn’t stop in-game. On September 20, HoYoFair’s Fan Art Special Program streams across YouTube, X, Instagram, and TikTok. Expect two hours of fan-made shorts, animations, and music, including the finale of dillongoo’s cyberpunk Genshin series, new episodes from familiar creators, and even a girl-band-themed animation featuring Kokomi, Amber, Kirara, and more. Bonus: singer ReoNa makes her Genshin debut with the official theme song.
