As a huge fan of the guitar hero franchise and someone who enjoyed playing Guitar Hero: Live, I am sad to say that Activision has announced that on December 1st, 2018, the online services will be disabled and servers shut down. GHTV is a game mode that enables you to play along with the music video of a song while also being in a lobby with other people, competing for the best score.

Activision said on the 1st of June:

“We want to thank you for being valued fans and let you know that as of December 1, 2018, the GHTV mode within Guitar Hero Live will no longer be available to play. On that date, we will terminate the service for GHTV and servers will be shut down. Console versions of the GH Live mode will continue to operate as usual.”

Along with this Activision have said that the online services for iOS will also be shut down along with the in-game micro-transactions on the same date. Guitar Hero: LIve was only released on the 23rd of October 2015, so seeing this happen this soon is really saddening. The death of the service also probably means the death of the guitar hero franchise as a whole. Hears hoping Clone Hero takes off.
