Earlier today, Sega of America’s YouTube channel released a series of live-action shorts known as “Stories of the Dragon” to promote the impending western release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Shot on location in Tokyo, the series focuses on characters protagonist Kazuma Kiryu has interacted with in the past, and how that interaction has changed their lives.

The shorts number three in total, and run around three minutes each. “The Bouncer” and “Prodigal Son” look at side-story characters from Yakuza Kiwami, and “Another Haruka” focuses on a side-story character from Yakuza 5. The collection of shorts may be found embedded below.

The Yakuza franchise is a series of open-world, action/beat-em ups, that first appeared on the Playstation 2 in 2005. Primarily focused in a fictionalised version of Tokyo’s Kabukichō district (known as Kamurocho in the game), players control Kazuma Kiryu as he assists the Tojo clan and tries to maintain his moral fortitude. Yakuza 6 will take players through the familiar Kamurocho district, as well as a Hiroshima port town named Onomichi, as Kazuma investigates a mystery that threatens those closest to him.

Yakuza 6 is slated for western release on April 17th for the PlayStation 4. The base version will retail around $60USD.
