Konami has announced Castlevania Requiem – a pack containing both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. The pack will be releasing exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on October 26th, with a European price point of €19.99.

The Playstation Store blog post promoting the package details that the games are emulations of the original titles, ‘tweaked’ to take advantage of the PS4’s hardware: 4K/1080p upscaling; Multiple high resolution backgrounds; different rendering options (eg. smoothing); controller vibration and speaker usage; and full Trophy support.

Rondo of Blood first released in 1993, for Japan-exclusive PC Engine – this will be the version emulated here as opposed to the Castlevania: Dracula X remake released on the Super Nintendo. As Richter Belmont, players must work to end the newly resurrected Dracula, as well as rescue their lover, Annette. The title was known for its well designed levels and reasonable difficulty. Symphony of the Night is a true legend of gaming; an extremely well designed game that carries a lot of nostalgia for many, this title is in part responsible for the ‘Metroidvania’ moniker used in the gaming industry. A direct sequel to Rondo of Blood, you play as Dracula’s vampire son, Alucard, in an effort to thwart his father and investigate why the once heroic Richter now seems to be working for the forces of evil.

Although Richter – who features heavily in both titles – is a confirmed newcomer in Smash Ultimate, Konami does not currently have plans to bring Castlevania Requiem to other systems. The announcement trailer may be found below.
