Lawbreakers, a brand new PC and PS4 FPS game from Boss Key Productions released on the 8th of August. Currently it’s sitting at ‘Very Positive’ on steam, as well as a metacritic score of 78. It’s something that comes off the wave of Overwatch and Battleborn but a bit more traditional.

However despite having good scores across the board, it is known to have a low playerbase at the moment. The game itself has not received much marketing and advertising. However there was a multiplayer beta running up until recently that game players a taste of the action.

Developer Cliff Bleszinski has stated that he’s not worried by the low player base. In an interview he states “I’d rather be the underhyped game that slowly ramps up into something that people adore than something that comes out with way too much hype that there’s a backlash for”. Despite the game being a core PC experience there has been an outcry from playstation users wanting the game. Bleszinski also stated that there is long term support planned for the game including new maps and modes to enjoy.

Some cause for the low amount of players could be the price tag attached to it. While it is only £30, there are lots of other games people already own or can get for free. Despite this, in my opinion 3000 users on launch day is very shocking and unexpected. I have some hope for the future of the game and hope it finds the players it deserves. You can buy the game right now on the PlayStation Store and Steam.
