The Pokemon Company revealed that a new title, Pokemon Unite, was in development today. The MOBA-style game will be developed in conjunction with TenCent’s Timi Studio.
Using one of several Pokemon heroes, players will work to capture the battlefield from their opponents, and capture Pokemon in the field for points. The team with the most points at the end of the timelimit wins.
There’s other nuances, like Pokemon being able to evolve, pick from a pool of moves to equip, and unleashing special ‘Unite’ attacks, but it really is a MOBA at the end of the day, so you probably know what to expect.
The game is ‘free to start’ (a somewhat concerning phrase), and available on the Switch and mobile at some point in the future.
Sadly, no other Pokemon news was revealed in the presentation. You can watch it below.
