Yesterday, eagle-eyed fans found a listing for a new, six inch plush of Banjo on the American GameStop storefront. Considering the Banjo-Kazooie franchise has been dormant since 2008’s poorly received Nuts & Bolts, some fans suspect the listing may indicate Nintendo’s plan to reveal the duo for Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Whilst by no means a confirmation by itself, the return of the beloved duo via Nintendo’s all-star fighter isn’t an impossibility – Nintendo and Rare have a rich history together, and both Nintendo and Rare’s current owner, Microsoft, have been on good terms of late. Series creator Phil Spencer also recently stated that he’d be fine for Banjo and Kazooie to appear in Smash Bros.
For now, all we can do is wait, and hope. The Banjo plush is scheduled to come out on 1st of October this year. For more info on the upcoming Smash Bros. Ultimate, see our E3 coverage here.
