If you’ve ever wanted to throw your mates into a zombie horde to please a flying Otter God, your time has come. The demo for Vampirates, a wild new co-op brawler from Belgian Indie devs Abonneer, is live on Steam now and it’s absolutely chaotic in the best way.
Set in a crumbling tavern that’s completely overrun by the undead, Vampirates is a wave-based brawler where you play as, well, vampirates – undead party pirates with questionable morals and even worse teamwork. You mission? Survive the madness, fend off zombies, and keep the Otter God happy by feeding it anything (or anyone) you can get your hands on.
And yes, that includes Kevin.
Launching just ahead of Steam’s Zombies vs Vampires Fest (26 May – 2 June) and Next Fest (9 – 16 June), this demo gives players an early taste of the full game, which is set to release in Q3 2025.
What to Expect
- Everything’s a Weapon – Chairs, chickens, barstools, even your friends. If you can grab it, you can throw it. Use the tavern to your advantage or just create pure chaos.
- Proximity Chat Carnage – Scream. Laugh. Betray. Every match turns into a loud, hilarious mess thanks to build-in proximity voice chat.
- Appear the Otter God – It’s floaty. It’s hungry. And if it doesn’t get fed, it’s going to be very update. Time’s sticking.
- Co-op (Dis)Harmony – Whether you’re braving it solo or dragging your friends down with you in online co-op, expect mayhem, panic, and maybe a little friendship-ending drama.
So grab your crew, dodge the undead, and get ready to sacrifice Kevin for the greater good.
