Powerhoof’s critically acclaimed pulp adventure thriller The Drifter is now available digitally for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop.

Priced at $29.50 AUD / $19.99 USD / £16.75 GBP, The Drifter also includes a free upgrade pack for players moving from Switch to Switch 2. Lovely stuff. Nothing says “murder conspiracy nightmare” quite like consumer-friendly upgrading.

As per the press release, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of The Drifter supports up to 4K and 120fps, giving its crunchy pixel art a sharper edge and its parallax scrolling a smoother ride. Players can also swap between twin-stick controls and traditional point-and-click controls, with support for Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor functionality.

Powerhoof has also released a new accolades trailer to celebrate the Switch launch, showing off the awards and critical praise The Drifter has picked up since its initial PC release in 2025.

A Point-and-Click Thriller With the Brake Lines Cut

The Drifter follows Mick Carter as he tries to solve the mystery of his own homicide. Fairly inconvenient, that.

The game throws players into a grim web of shadowy corporations, conspiracy, murder, and the thousand-year obsession of a madman. It is a classic 2D point-and-click adventure, but one with a pulp thriller pace and a clear fondness for danger, dread, and poor life choices.

Powerhoof describes the game as drawing on King, Crichton, and Carpenter, with a dash of 70s Aussie grindhouse. So yes, expect things to get weird, tense, and probably quite unpleasant for anyone wearing a trench coat.

The Drifter Switch Features and Platforms

The Drifter blends an edge-of-your-seat story with logical, down-to-earth investigative puzzles. These puzzles connect the game’s sharper narrative beats without slowing the whole thing to a dusty old adventure-game crawl.

Key features include twin-stick controls built for handheld and couch play, traditional point-and-click support, raw pixel art, high-impact animation, professional voice acting, and a brooding dark-synth cinematic score.

The Drifter is available now for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop. It is also available for Windows, macOS, and Linux via Steam and GOG.com.

So, whether you fancy conspiracy, murder, crunchy pixel art, or simply solving your own death before tea, The Drifter is ready to ruin Mick Carter’s day all over again.
