If you thought Atomfall was already creepy, just wait until you set foot on the Wicked Isle. Rebellion has announced that Wicked Isle, the first major story expansion for its folk-horror survival-action game Atomfall, launches on June 3rd across all platforms.

As detailed in Rebellion’s latest press release, this expansion takes player to Midsummer Island, a cursed, heavily infected zone off the mainland near the infamous Windscale Atom Plant. To get there, you’ll need to track down a boat-keeper in Wyndham Village, who sets you on your path with your first lead.

The new location features fresh characters, enemy factions like pirate bandits and infected druids, and a batch of powerful new weapons, included:

  • The devastating Blunderbuss shotgun
  • A new box, cutlass, and daggers
  • The Beekeeper’s Staff (yep, that’s a thing)

You’ll also find new skills, an upgraded metal detector for loot-hunting, and multiple new story leads that can alter the main game’s ending.

Wicked Isle is part of the Atomfall Deluxe Edition and Deluxe Upgrade Pack, but can also be purchased standalone for £14.99, €19.99, $19.99. Xbox Game Pass users get 10% off. The expansion is launching on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, Epic, and Windows Store.

If you haven’t jumped into Atomfall yet, the game’s already seen over 2.5 million players explore its eerie, post-nuclear take on 1950s Britain. It’s also certified for Steam Deck, in case you fancy taking the horror on the go.

What did we think of Atomfall?

As we noted in our review, Atomfall offers a unique blend of survival mechanics and investigative exploration. “Gameplay-wise, Atomfall is somewhere between a survival sim and an investigative open-world adventure,” highlighting the game’s ability to keep players on their toes with scarce resources and unpredictable encounters.

The setting stands out with its eerie beauty of decaying British countryside. “There’s something hauntingly brilliant about wandering through a fog-covered moor while an old war-era radio crackles nonsense in the distance,” we observed, emphasising the game’s atmospheric depth.

Narratively, Atomfall doesn’t shy away from blending dark themes with moments of absurdity. “Even when things get grim, there’s usually a moment of absurdity waiting to balance it out — like a cultist accidentally setting themselves on fire mid-monologue,” we noted, underscoring the game’s unique tone.
