NC America has confirmed that AION 2 is launching later in 2026 on PC, with the MMORPG heading to Steam and PURPLE. As per the press release, this sequel is aiming big, with a world said to be 36 times larger than the original AION, plus free flight, underwater exploration, and aerial combat across both PvE and PvP.
That is quite the glow-up.
The publisher also says the global version has been built specifically for PC players, rather than feeling like a compromise or an afterthought. NC America adds that the team will be sharing more AION 2 news in May, while also taking questions from the community along the way.
AION 2’s global PC version is clearly the focus
One of the biggest points in the announcement is that AION 2’s global release is being made specifically for PC. NC America also says servers will be hosted locally in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, which should be welcome news for anyone already eyeing endgame raids or PvP chaos.
The game will support 10 in-game languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Players can also wishlist AION 2 on Steam now, with the official website live for further details and community updates.
Flight, PvP, raids, and a much bigger fantasy world
As per the press release, AION 2 is built around freedom of movement, with flight acting as one of its signature features. Players will be able to fly across the world, dive underwater, and take part in aerial combat. NC America is pitching both a strong PvE offering and high-stakes PvP, with everything tied together by fast-paced combat focused on precision, timing, and positioning.
On the PvE side, the game will include solo content, four-player dungeons, and eight-player raids. PvP sounds just as busy, with 1v1 and 4v4 arenas, large-scale cross-server Realm-vs-Realm battles, and the return of the faction-based Abyss from the original game.
That should be enough to get old AION fans paying attention again.
AION 2 story and key features
NC America says AION 2 takes place 200 years after the original conflict. Following the destruction of the Tower of Eternity, the Elyos and Asmodian factions are now dealing with a shattered universe while facing the newly empowered Balaur faction.
The press release also highlights a few headline features:
- a massive high fantasy world with true freedom of movement
- faster combat with an emphasis on tempo and positioning
- eight classes
- character customisation across more than 200 features
Seunguk Baek, Chief Business Officer at NC, said the team wants to bring the same level of community focus and gameplay quality to global players that Aion 2 has already aimed for through its ongoing development.
All told, AION 2 looks like NC America is going for a bigger, flashier, and far more PC-focused follow-up. Whether it sticks the landing is another matter, but between Steam support, local servers, flying combat, and the return of the Abyss, it is at least saying the right things.
