Earlier during the Sega/ATLAS co-presentation at the Tokyo Game Show, Shenmue 3 director Yu Suzuki took to the stage to show off his upcoming title.
The title picks up right where Shenmue 2 left off – in China, on the hunt for Lan Di, the killer of Ryo’s father. Taking place in both China and Japan, the title will have returning life sim elements (like arcade games) and the signature martial arts combat that helped make the series so notable back in the day. The voice actors, Masaya Matsukaze and Haruka Terui, expressed their hopes for the title, and joy at returning to it after so long.
But the Shenmue 3 release will not be without controversy – due to jumping onto an Epic Store Exclusivity Deal after promising backers Steam keys, for the next two weeks only, refunds for backing the project are being offered.
