IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN where I can finally talk about all of my favourite things of the year that’s just gone. I am going to start this year with my top ten movies that I watched in 2023. I feel that I must preface this article by saying that I didn’t get around to watching Barbie or Oppenheimer so they wont be making the list. I really want to see both those movies but I refuse to pay £15.99 to rent a movie for 48 hours on Amazon Prime – once I can get access to these two I may change this list slightly but without further ado here are the I watched in 2023 that I absolutely loved!

10) Talk To Me

Imagine a horror flick so gripping it not only meets expectations but shatters them. Talk To Me is that movie. It’s a heady mix of spine-tingling scares and a storyline that’s as plausible as it is petrifying. It’s a horror show that feels a bit too real, making every shadow in your room seem sinister.

9) Infinity Pool

Dive into Infinity Pool and get ready for a wild ride. This film isn’t your usual horror trip – it’s a bizarre journey through hedonistic tourism and mind-bending terror. It’s like a fever dream that you can’t wake up from, and is as visually striking as it is unsettling.

8) Knock at the Cabin

Knock at the Cabin is not just a film; it’s a thought experiment wrapped in a thriller’s cloak. While some might find its scares a bit mild, the plot’s a brain-teaser that’ll have you pondering long after the credits roll. It’s Shyamalan doing what he does best – messing with our heads.

7) Extraction 2

Gear up for Extraction 2, a sequel that takes the action up a notch. If you thought the first movie was a thrill, this one’s a whole adrenaline factory. It’s a straightforward action bonanza with a charisma only such movies can bring.

6) Scream 6

AHHHHHHHHHHHH, Scream 6, the latest chapter in the saga that just won’t die. It’s a mix of familiar slasher tropes and new-age horror satire. Some say it’s predictable, but hey, isn’t that part of the charm? It’s a nostalgia trip with a fresh coat of blood.

5) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The Guardians are back, and this time, they’re tugging at our heartstrings. Vol. 3 is an interstellar odyssey that’s a little darker and a little deeper. It’s the kind of movie that shows blockbusters can have soul – and a killer soundtrack.

4) TMNT Mutant Mayhem

TMNT Mutant Mayhem is a nostalgia bomb with a modern twist. It’s a fun ride that’s as much about coming of age as it is about kicking butt. The Turtles have never looked better, and the story is as sweet as it is action-packed.

3) Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves

This isn’t just a movie; it’s an adventure. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves captures the spirit of the game with humor and heart. It’s a fantasy romp that’s as entertaining for newcomers as it is for die-hard fans.

2) Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Swinging in at number two is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This isn’t just a sequel; it’s a genre-defining masterpiece. The animation’s a feast for the eyes, and the story is as engaging as it is exciting. It’s Spider-Man like you’ve never seen him before.

1) Evil Dead Rise

Topping the list is Evil Dead Rise, a horror film that’s as gruesome as it is brilliant. It’s a bone-chilling, blood-curdling revival of the classic franchise. For fans of the genre, it’s a must-watch – just maybe not alone or in the dark. Evil Dead 2 is my favourite movie of all time, so it’s absolutely no surprise that the continuation of this franchise would top my list in 2023.

So there we go – what have I missed that I need to check out in 2023? Let me know!
