Hello again gang! It’s time for part two of my favourite games from each year over the past decade. These years are sure to ruffle a few feathers so stick around in the comments section to watch people get angry with me over video games… ALRIGHT LET’S DO THIS ONE MORE TIME.
This list will cover the years from 2015 through to 2019.
The Witcher 3 is probably my favourite RPG of all time that isn’t Dark Souls. Hell, it’s probably my 2nd favourite game of all time. The Witcher 3 perfectly blends incredible storytelling with a huge, evolving open world and combat so in depth and satisfying nothing has come close to it since.
There was a slight spanner in this choice as I VERY nearly put Bloodborne over The Witcher 3 but ultimately it has to be my time with Geralt in 2015 that beats out all else. I spent around 16 days of my real life time with The Witcher 3 and when the game asked me to come back for the 2 expansion packs, it was the best Season Pass I have ever bought.

Overrated Games of the Year: Fallout 4, Rocket League.
2016 for a lot of people is a hard year to place their favourite game but for me it was very easy to put Dark Souls 3 in that position. No other game that came out this year satisfied me in the way Dark Souls 1 did and had me coming back for more and more and more with my save going up to NG+++++++ for the game.
Taking everything that was good about Dark Souls 1 and removing all the bad from Dark Souls 2 – Dark Souls 3 can be argued as the best game in the series. It’s not personally my favourite as nothing will come close to that first one you play… But damn it’s close.
I mean Doom and Dishonored 2 both came out in 2016 and whilst I absolutely adore these games… A DARK SOULS GAME RELEASED.
Honorable Mentions: Doom, Dishonored 2, Titanfall 2, Dragon Quest: Builders.
Overrated Games of the Year: Final Fantasy XV, XCOM 2.
This for me, was the hardest of the years to place. Resident Evil 7, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey and Destiny 2 all came out in 2017 but NieR Automata is my favourite game of that year. Coming off of the back of a random niche game I happened to play (NieR) years and years before I didn’t really expect all that much from NieR Automata.
I kind of expected that the combat would be great as Platinum Games had refined their systems over the years but what I didn’t expect, what really caught me off guard was the story featured in the game.
This game hits hard and is on this list as one of my favourite video game storylines of all time, I remember telling the Respawning staff there was no way I was going to replay the game again in order to get the second act but once the time rolled around… I simply couldn’t stop playing.
NieR Automata is one of my favourite JRPG’s of all time and this is seriously no mean feat.

Overrated Games of the Year: Horizon: Zero Dawn, Hellblade, Cuphead, Prey.
There are a lot of issues with the Spider-Man game that I know a lot of people have, and I understand them, but to me this was the best game of last year.
I felt like I had waited my entire life for a game that made me FEEL like Peter Parker (my childhood hero, read my review HERE for more) and this game absolutely nailed that. It had me smiling the entire way through as I swang around New York finding other Marvel Comics secrets and the Avengers tower until it didn’t want me to smile anymore and the game had me bawling my eyes out like the baby I am.
I know Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War and Assassins Creed Odyssey all came out in 2018 but for pure feels I have to go with Spider-Man.
I love Spider-Man PS4 so god damn much.

Overrated Games of the Year: God Of War (Yep, I loved it but it’s not the best ever game ever), Octopath Traveller.
Resident Evil 2 on the PS1 is my favourite horror game of all time, a genre I absolutely adore above most others, so when the Remake was initially announced my feelings were split between pure hype and the worry that they would ruin one of my favourite games of all time.
Ho BOY! They took my favourite Horror Game of all time and made the thing better. I have played Resident Evil 2 on the PS1 so much I didn’t think the remake would scare me but Jesus Christ it did. There were times I had to turn the game off for a bit because I had spent hours of my life feeling so tense that my shoulder hurt.
Death Stranding is a close second for my favourite game in the last year of this decade but ultimately Resident Evil 2 is my favourite.

Overrated Games of the Year: Sekiro, Kingdom Hearts 3 (see God of War) Devil May Cry V (ONE THIRD OF THE GAME IS GARBAGE DON’T @ME).
