The start of the year is well known for being slow for gaming, everything has come out for the Christmas rush and we’re often left with scraps in the following few months. However this year that’s really not the case, we’ve already had great games in January and there are plenty more in the coming weeks. Here’s what I’m looking forward to..
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood (February 4th)
If I’m honest I don’t know tonnes about this game. What I do know is that you’re a werewolf in an action RPG, and that’s enough of a sell for me! In my mind I’ve got visions of the werewolf aspect of Skyrim, which was awesome. There is a chance it could be a bit like Vampyr which I thought was a bit disappointing but fingers crossed it’s a full on gory action RPG! I am conncerned this could be a run of the mill stealth/action game where for the stealth you’re just a wolf but I hope I’m wrong!
Nioh 2 Remastered (February 5th)
I have just started play Nioh properly, and my god do I love it. Originally I started it to get hyped for Ghost of Tsushima and then I kind of abandoned it. However after finally finishing Dark Souls 3 I felt it was finally time to get fully into Nioh (and The Surge 2) and it has only got me huuugely hyped to play Nioh 2. The samurai setting of the game is truly awesome and there are times where I prefer it to Dark Souls ! Expect lots of soulsy souls content from me in the coming weeks.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury – February 12th
It’s no lie that I am a huge fan of platform games on the Switch, especially Mario games so I was always going to be excited at the prospect of more. Although the majority of this game is a Wii U port I never played the original (because I, like many others, didn’t get the Wii U) so it’s all new to me. Having the options of coop play in a Mario game is always exciting and it seems you can have some sort of giga fight with bowser! Yes please! I am yet to play super duper mario remastered collection but I feel like I won’t wait to play this one.
Persona 5 Strikers – February 23rd
I’ve mentioned it a couple of times, and I especially will in my video coming out later today, but I played/completed Persona 5 last year. It was my first experience of a Persona game and I couldn’t get enough, so boy was I excited to find out there was going to be a sequel continuing their story but done in more of an action-y type way boy was I excited. Now I’m not a huge fan of the Dynasty Warriors games which the combat has been likened to but the more I learn about this game it does seem it’s not exactly comparable to that. It also has it’s good old ties to school life and heavy story, it’s also a bit short than usual and is on Switch. I really couldn’t ask for more for a JRPG sequel that’s doing something different and man ooooh man do i hope to review this.
