This years San Diego Comic Con was a huge event with plenty of trailers and new to hand around. Weather your a comic, movie or TV fan there was something for you to see. This will be a compilation of all the main news and hype that came out of the event so be sure to scroll down for anything you may have missed!

Marvel: Team Ups and Smack Downs

A lot of heroes turned up this week and the Marvel Cinematic Universe had plenty to show off.

The third Thor film takes our man Chris Hemsworth and partners him up with Mark Ruffalo returning as Hulk. Together they must form a team to save Asgard and kick Hela’s arse. Set to feature an appearance from Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, this movie is setting things in motion towards the big Infinity War due 2018. I’m personally looking forward to this as it takes a lot of visual and written inspiration from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m very excited to see the big green man himself come back to our screens. Ragnarok will be making highlights this October so we don’t have long to wait!

Described as many as the ghetto Avengers, the Defenders will be making their debut together this Autumn. The team up will consist of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. This will offer up an avengers style event in the comfort of our Netflix application which is always something to look forward to. The great Sigourney Weaver will also be making an appearance as the main antagonist of the show. Weather you’re a fan of the TV heroes or not you must admit a team up in this format is incredible to see. Also related comes a new Punisher show which we can imagine will have some link to the defenders when we see them very soon!

Infinity War

LOOK AT ALL THESE PEOPLE!

Speaking of team ups the marvellous Avengers will be teaming up to take on their biggest foe yet, Thanos. Featuring all of the MCU’s favourite heroes and misfits it will be the biggest super hero team up ever seen. Not only will the Avengers be making headlines, but the Guardians of the Galaxy come to lay down a fresh beat on us and save the day no doubt. Some new footage was shown at the recent D23 event and we can expect it to be shown to the public very soon. Until then we have this poster to get us excited and very very afraid!

DC: Justice For the TV Folk

The Justice League of America have seen the Avengers man the throne for too long! Now it’s time for a new breed of heroes. Featuring Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg, Justice league will put our darkest heroes together for the biggest battle they have ever faced. With a sneaky tease at the end of this trailer we can expect to see a few more heroes show up during this cinematic event. Related to this was the announced Wonder Woman sequel! Wonder Woman was by far the most successful and entertaining DC movie for me personally so I’m glad to know she will be making a return on the big screen.

DC aren’t the only ones with a cast of TV misfits and they will both be returning to their respective shows later this year. While they haven’t had a definitive team up show before, both heroes do tend to cross other into each others lives multiple times throughout their adventures. However with a flash within this universe and a separate one in the movie universe it is hard to pin point exactly where they belong in DC’s large world of heroes.

Looking to the Future

It’s easy to say that this has been an exciting era for super heroes, and with Marvel tying up their cinematic universe fairly soon after Infinity War it’s gonna be an explosive ending. But also an exciting beginning with DC making some hero debuts in the last 2 years. Now they will have their first major team up movie. It’s been 5 Years since the first Avengers movie and the amount of heroes on  screen has only quadrupled since then. Now is the time to be a super hero fan, and if you already aren’t then you’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
