Holy shit balls, this is going to be an awesome year for films. We’ve already had some great films come out this year in the shape of the Lego Movie 2 and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. Were now in March which means the big leagues are about to get swinging. Here’s what I’m on the edge of my seat for.

Literally just this week, Captain Marvel is hitting the silver screens. In the previous film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thanos performs the infamous snap and wipes out half of the universe, including half the Avengers. I, for one, am really excited to see if there are any clues as to what’s going to happen next for the Avengers. My hopes are not very high though; this character debut is set in the 1990s and welcomes Carol Danvers played by Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) to the MCU. This film is also the time a female superhero is the focus of a solo movie. It’s in cinemas March 8th.

Time to take myself back to my childhood with a remake of something I watched on VHS with my mum. It’s Dumbo, the Flying Circus Elephant. Tim Burton has turned his imaginative eyes on the classic animated story released in 1941, featuring big names like Colin Farrell, Eva Green and everyone’s favourite, Danny DeVito, we’re bound for a good show here. It hits the screens on March 29th.

I may have never seen the original Hellboy films, but the remake that no one asked for is here and it looks incredible. Just glance your eye over the trailer of this magnificent piece of cinematography and tell me that you’re not excited. First of all, its set in London. The city is always getting destroyed in films so why not one more time. It’s a Fantasy Action film that will only make you laugh out loud.  This one is out April 12.

We are gifted by the film gods not only one film from the MCU, but two and it comes out NEXT MONTH! We’ll finally get all the answers for the aftermath of Infinity War. It’s not that far to go now. But if you’re aware of how deep the MCU goes, you’ll also know that this is the end of Phase 3 of the MCU. This means were bound to be saying goodbye to some beloved characters, but hope will be on the horizon with the prospects of Phase 4. I wonder what’s going to happen? We can feast our eyes on April 26th.

What do you mean that we’ve never had a proper Pokémon film before? It’s the highest-grossing media franchise ever. How is this possible? Not to worry, there’s one just around the corner featuring everyone’s favourite Pokémon, Pikachu. It gets better though, Pikachu can talk rather than just saying his name over and over in various levels of screaming, and he’s voiced by Ryan Reynolds. What more could you want? Brother, I’ll take you to see it as a birthday present on May 10th.

A while ago, I got the chance to play SuperHot VR on one of my friends PSVR’s. It was some of the most fun I had ever had – It was the comparison of what I was like that I enjoy the most though; apparently, I’m just like John Wick, the ultimate killing tool. He’s back in part three of his Trilogy, continuing on from where chapter 2 left off, John must survive the bounty that was placed on his head after killing someone on protected grounds. Let’s see some ass being kicked on May 17th.

Moving into June, we’ve got the next instalment of one of my favourite action series, Men In Black. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have taken off the suits and Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson reunite to put them on. International will take the new duo over the world save it all over again. It’s going to be Action Comedy at its finest. We can watch it on June 14th.

Very little is known about Toy Story 4, besides that the main cast returns. All I know is I’m excited for more, have a gander at the trailer and tell me you’re not interested. It hits the screens on June 21st.

Isn’t this the year of MCU; technically this is a little bit of a spoiler. The last we saw of Spiderman was of him fading into dust at the end of Infinity War, so somehow, he must come back for his next instalment, Far From home. Don’t we just love how bad Tom Holland is with keeping secrets? We wouldn’t know the name of the film if it wasn’t for him. We’ll see the Spiderman himself go up against Mysterio this time. I’m sure we’re in for a good show on July 5th.

The same month we’re looking at the release of The Lion King. Everyone loves the classic animated film, this live-action remake featuring Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala and James Earl Jones is returning to the role of Mufasa. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the most impressive pieces of cinematography this year. You can watch it on July 19th.

It’s got Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. It’s got the Fast and Furious franchise backing it. That can only mean, fast cars, brutal fights and a story where the bad guys get fucked up by the good guys, even if they’re working together. I’m excited to see the clash of the titans August 2nd, are you?

A film that I watched a long time ago taught me a lot of lessons, most importantly, enjoy the little things. Time to go back to the Zombieland with Double Tap. The original cast is back so we can see more of the awkward Jesse Eisenberg, the brutal Woody Harrelson and a grown-up Abigail Breslin and the return of Emma Stone. Going up against Zombies that have evolved from the previous instalment, I bet we’re in for a great zombie killing train. Jump on October 11th.

The action comedy Kingsman is getting a third instalment this year. We’re at the point where we still don’t know a lot about the films coming out from here onwards, but if this film is anything like the previous two films, then I know I’m excited about it. The release date has been set for November 8th.

This is something that I am most definitely not looking forward too. Call it a public service announcement that the world is going to go Frozen mad again. The sequel is coming out November 22nd, you won’t find me anywhere close to a cinema for this one.

Jumanji is getting a sequel, the original remake was so good in every way. The actors perfectly captured the young characters personalities and it’s great to see the cast come back for the sequel. Whatever happens next, we can expect it to be great. It’s out December 13th.

Finally, it’s time for the biggest film on the calendar. Its Star Wars day friends. Episode IX will be out and will finish off the third trilogy. Returning to the director’s chair is JJ Abrams, whatever your opinions about Episode VIII, the return of JJ can only mean a promising end to the series.

And there we have it, my most anticipated films for the rest of this year, what else are you excited for? It’s just a shame we need to wait another year for James Cameron’s Avatar 2…
