Earlier today, Japanese publisher XSEED Games announced that it would be bringing The Legend of Heroes: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series and Trails of Cold Steel II to the West on PS4 early next year. This release will include special physical editions and, as a first in the franchise, dual audio options.

Players experiencing the Tails of Cold Steel titles will have access to both the original Japanese dialogue, as well as the 5,000+ lines of English dialogue recorded for the titles releases on PC. Those owning the PC edition will receive the Japanese dialogue in a free patch later this year.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel will release in what is called ‘The Decisive Edition’; this edition will include a physical copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, as well as an artbook and a 50 Mira replica coin.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II will release in what is called ‘The Relentless Edition’; this edition will include a physical copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, an artbook, and a replica Ouroboros emblem pin.

Each edition will retail at around $49.99 USD.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series focuses on Rean Schwartz, a soldier in training at Thors Military Academy. Due to increasing political turmoil within their land, Thors Military Academy is experimenting with a new class structure, of which Rean and his comrades are a part of – Class VII does not segregate soldiers based on class as has been tradition in the empire, but is composed of commoner and noble recruits who have demonstrated exceptional skill.
