GO Snapshot to provide millions of trainers worldwide with a new enhanced AR photography mode to create custom photos with their favourite Pokémon in the real world.

Niantic today announced GO Snapshot, a new augmented reality (AR) photography feature that is coming soon to Pokémon GO. The new enhanced AR feature turns the real world into a canvas for Trainers where they can easily take photos of Pokémon and share their adventures with their friends. GO Snapshot leverages the powerful AR technology of the Niantic Real World Platform to better see and understand the way a smartphone sees the world in real time.

“We’ve been inspired by the incredible photos Trainers have taken in AR+ mode and exploring new ways to further bridge the digital and physical worlds through Niantic’s enhanced AR technologies,” said Ryuta Hiroi, Product Manager, Niantic, Inc. “With the addition of GO Snapshot in Pokémon GO, millions of Trainers worldwide will soon be able to experience a whole new level of augmented reality power, connecting with their favorite Pokémon in the real world like never before.”

The GO Snapshot feature allows players to use their smartphones to pose and take pictures of their favorite Pokémon in the real world. Once a Trainer selects a Pokémon and scans their real-world surroundings, they can select the position of the Pokémon where they will appear to scale on their smartphones. Trainers can interact with their Pokémon to get their attention and pose them in unique ways to capture the ideal photo to be shared with friends.

GO Snapshot will be launching soon to Pokémon GO. To learn more about Pokémon GO, please visit the official Pokémon GO blog at PokémonGOLive.com
