RUNT is available now on Steam, bringing players a dark mystery packed with supernatural threats, fractured family relationships and plenty of unpleasant surprises.
Developed by Grimtaste Studios and published by DreadXP, RUNT launched today, 6 August 2026, for $9.99. A 20% launch discount is also available for the first two weeks.
The indie horror visual novel follows Runt Stayer, a 19-year-old living in a violent post-apocalyptic world where humanity no longer sits comfortably at the top of the food chain.
Probably not the best time for a family reunion, then.
RUNT Sends Players Into a Post-Apocalyptic Mystery
Runt is the youngest of five brothers living near the remains of a small rural town.
After someone, or something, defaces his late father’s pulpit inside an abandoned church, a strange omen appears. It points towards a countdown ending on the fifth anniversary of his father’s death.
Runt must investigate the message and uncover what it means. However, the apocalypse has left supernatural creatures roaming the world, while conversations with his brothers can prove just as dangerous.
As per the press release, RUNT mixes family drama, survival politics and supernatural horror within a heavy, atmospheric story.

Choices Shape RUNT’s Multiple Endings
RUNT takes the structure of a visual novel and adds unpredictable outcomes, branching conversations and multiple endings.
A multi-branch dialogue system lets players shape their relationships with the town’s residents. Their choices also influence how Runt deals with his feelings towards his father, his brothers and himself.
Family dynamics sit at the centre of the story, with tension inside the town potentially matching anything waiting beyond its walls.
The game combines original photography with hand-painted artwork to create its unsettling visual style. Meanwhile, the narrative aims to offer plenty of depth for fans of horror, mysteries and choice-driven adventures.
RUNT is available now on Steam for $9.99, with a 20% discount running for its first two weeks.
