Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have released the launch trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, giving players one final look at Sophia’s story before launch.
The trailer premiered during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live and arrives just days before the game releases on 27 August for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Set to a reinterpretation of Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence, the trailer focuses on loss, betrayal and destiny as Sophia’s journey moves into decidedly darker territory.
Resonance explores Sophia’s past and the origins of the Macula
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy blends melee combat, exploration, environmental puzzles and narrative-driven adventure while offering a new perspective on Asobo Studio’s A Plague Tale universe.
Players will uncover Sophia’s origins while also following a parallel story set during the Minoan era.
As per the press release, that storyline will reveal long-buried secrets connected to the island and offer new insight into the origins of the Macula.
The adventure moves between dramatic coastal landscapes and forgotten underground labyrinths, with each discovery bringing Sophia closer to the truth.
Unfortunately, the truth appears to come with quite a lot of darkness attached.
Asobo Studio co-founder and creative director David Dedeine described the project as a special journey for the development team, giving the studio an opportunity to explore its universe from a different perspective.
Dedeine said the team put its heart into everything from the writing and gameplay to the music and environments, despite the challenges involved in bringing Sophia’s story together.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on 27 August
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on 27 August 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass from day one and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Pre-orders remain available across all platforms.
A Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Collector Box is also available to pre-order in Europe. The premium edition includes a selection of collectables inspired by Sophia’s adventure, with deliveries expected to begin at the end of October.
Meanwhile, the game’s original score from composer Olivier Derivière is already available across streaming platforms.
With the final trailer now out in the wild, there is not much longer to wait before Sophia’s rather ominous-looking journey begins.
