Capcom’s samurai-slashing series is back in action with a brand-new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, giving fans a closer look at its eerie underworld setting, grotesque enemies, and the razor-sharp combat mechanics that define the experience. If you’ve been itching to parry, counter, and unleash a perfectly timed Issen, this is your moment.

Down Into the Depths

The trailer takes us beneath Kyoto to a secret laboratory where Dokyo, a sinister new figure, is busy crafting nightmare fuel in the form of fresh Genma. Among her creations:

  • Greater Nue – A lightning-wielding chimeric beast.
  • Kogashira – Former humans twisted into poison-spewing horrors.
  • Chijiko – A grotesque mass of writhing human faces with tentacles that would make any Resident Evil boss jealous.

Combat That Cuts Deep

Series protagonist Musashi Miyamoto isn’t heading into battle empty-handed. He’s packing a full arsenal of iconic Onimusha abilities:

  • Deflect – Bounce attacks (even projectiles) right back at enemies.
  • Parry – Time it right to stagger foes, open them up for counters, or even fling them into their buddies.
  • Blazing State – Land enough parries and unlock a temporary Oni-powered rampage.
  • Soul Absorption – Absorb souls mid-fight to heal, upgrade, and unleash special Oni attacks.
  • Issen – The legendary counterattack returns: strike a split-second before an enemy lands a blow for a lethal payoff.

The trailer also teases combat variety beyond swordplay, including archery and a dual-edged whirlwind blade, hinting at a deep and evolving arsenal.

Coming 2026
