Capcom has dropped a fresh Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live, alongside a sizeable update for the game’s public demo.
The Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo is available today on Nintendo Switch 2 and the Microsoft Store. Meanwhile, its new content is also being added to the existing demo on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The latest trailer, titled The Challenges That Await, also serves up new boss battles, a first look at Musashi’s awakened Oni form and some suitably nasty-looking opponents.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo adds a new quest
As per the press release, the updated demo now includes a second quest set within the Oni Refuge.
This surreal area offers an early slice of the story while introducing players to additional gameplay mechanics. It also features a battle against the towering boss Daidara.
So, if your sword skills were already feeling a little too comfortable, Capcom has apparently decided to fix that.
The new Gamescom footage gives players an idea of what else is waiting in the full game.
Among the newly revealed enemies are Ifuu and Burai, a duo capable of summoning wind and thunder. The trailer also teases protagonist Miyamoto Musashi’s duel with Dokyo.
More importantly, it offers the first gameplay glimpse of Musashi in his fully awakened Oni form.
New bosses arrive before the September launch
Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on 4 September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store.
Pre-orders are available now.
Capcom says players who secure the Standard, Deluxe or Premium Deluxe editions before 24 September will receive Early Adopter Bonuses.
The Standard Edition will be available physically and digitally, while the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions are digital-only.
The Deluxe Edition includes the base game alongside additional cosmetics and charms for Musashi. The Premium Deluxe Edition adds even more cosmetics for Musashi and his allies, plus an in-game soundtrack.
For now, anyone curious about Capcom’s latest dose of sword-swinging demon trouble can jump into the updated Onimusha: Way of the Sword Demo across all supported platforms today.
With another quest, new mechanics and Daidara waiting at the end of it, consider it a fairly aggressive warm-up for 4 September.
