RuneScape: Dragonwilds is about to get a fresh chunk of trouble. Jagex has announced that Dowdun Reach, the next major update for the crafting and survival game, lands on 31 March 2026, bringing with it a brand-new region, a corrupted fortress, community-requested changes, and a shiny new tier of Mithril gear.
As if that was not enough, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is also currently sitting at a 30% discount in the Steam Spring Sale, which is a fairly decent excuse to drag a few mates into Ashenfall and see how long you all last.
Dowdun Reach adds a corrupted fortress ruled by the Black Knight Titan
As per the press release, Dowdun Reach introduces players to a sprawling new region centred on a labyrinthine fortress now ruled by the corrupted Black Knight Titan. It is defended by armour-clad Black Knights and swarming with Lesser Blue Dragons, which does suggest the place is not exactly built for a relaxing afternoon stroll.
Those who do make it inside can expect a huge interconnected stronghold packed with secret-filled corridors, side quests, splinter factions, and plenty of fallen bodies scattered around to really sell the mood. Cheerful stuff.
Currently in Steam Early Access, RuneScape: Dragonwilds lets solo players or groups of up to four explore the previously undiscovered RuneScape continent of Ashenfall. Dowdun Reach looks set to make that journey even messier.
Level 99 caps, skill capes, and a new Mithril gear tier
One of the bigger mechanical changes in the update is the raise to level caps for all skills, pushing them up to 99. That also means max level skill capes are on the way, which should be good news for anyone already deep in the grind.
Jagex says the skills are not fully finished yet, but the increased cap means players will not lose out on XP while progressing through Ashenfall. Any backfilled content tied to those skills will unlock automatically as it is added later.
Dowdun Reach also adds a new tier of Mithril upgrades and equipment, with rich Mithril veins waiting to be mined throughout the fortress. According to the press release, that includes eight Mithril weapons, such as a Greataxe and Greatsword, plus the Maple Shortbow and Maple Longbow.
There is more on the armour side too, with a new set crafted from Blue Dragon Hide and the arrival of the iconic Mystic Robes for players leaning into magic.
The update follows Fellhollow, the game’s first major update, which launched in December 2025. Jagex also points to smaller updates like Beyond the Grave in February 2026 as part of Dragonwilds’ steady Early Access rollout. Looking ahead, Umbral Sands is planned for late Q2 2026, while Scorned Wilderness is currently scheduled for late Q3 2026. The long-awaited Fishing Skill is also due later in April 2026.
So yes, RuneScape: Dragonwilds has quite a bit on the way. But first up is Dowdun Reach, which seems very keen to welcome players into a giant corrupted fortress and immediately ruin their day.
