DayZ has officially made the jump to Nintendo Switch 2, with the new DayZ Cool Edition available digitally now.
The release brings Bohemia Interactive’s hardcore survival experience to Nintendo’s latest console for the first time. It also includes the DayZ Frostline expansion, Switch 2-specific features and support for TV, Tabletop and Handheld play.
After more than seven years without a new platform release, DayZ clearly fancied a change of scenery.
DayZ Cool Edition includes Frostline and three maps
Created in collaboration with Virtuos Labs – Prague, the DayZ Cool Edition bundles the base game with the DayZ Frostline expansion.
That gives Nintendo Switch 2 players access to three environments. These include Chernarus, Livonia and the frozen island of Sakhal.
The Switch 2 version also includes all official content released up to and including the 1.29 Road to Badlands update.
The upcoming DayZ Badlands expansion is also planned for Nintendo Switch 2 at a later date. However, no Switch 2 release date for the expansion has been announced in the press release.
As you’d expect from DayZ, this remains an online-only survival experience. Chernarus and Livonia support servers of up to 60 players, while Sakhal supports up to 50.
Players can also build their own customised experiences through community servers supported by Nitrado.
DayZ makes use of Nintendo Switch 2 features
The Nintendo Switch 2 version comes with several platform-specific additions.
These include gyro aiming, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, DLSS and VRR support. Players can also use touchscreen controls for inventory management, as well as a Pro Controller.
Family-group lending is supported too.
DayZ can be played across all three Nintendo Switch 2 play modes, including TV, Tabletop and Handheld. So yes, you can now worry about food, disease and hostile survivors while sitting on the sofa or hiding under the duvet.
As per the press release, the DayZ Cool Edition is available digitally now on Nintendo Switch 2.
The package includes the base game and DayZ Frostline, with DayZ Badlands planned to arrive on the platform later.
