Cassel Games has announced that its city-building survival simulation game Ratopia will officially launch on Steam on May 1, 2025.

Ratopia puts players in the role of a rat leader who must explore the world and build a thriving city. Since building a city alone is nearly impossible, players will issue commands to other rats, organizing their workforce to construct buildings, gather resources, and expand their settlement. The game blends classic simulation mechanics with survival strategy elements.

However, rats won’t work for free. Players must provide wages, daily necessities, and infrastructure such as housing, food, and entertainment to keep their citizens happy. To fund this growing society, players will need to mint currency, collect taxes, and engage in trade to develop a sustainable economy. On top of that, players must prepare for regular threats such as enemy invasions and natural disasters that challenge the stability of their city.

With a unique blend of city-building, resource management, economic simulation, and survival strategy, Ratopia offers a deep and immersive gameplay experience.

“We’ve spent the past four years developing Ratopia, and it’s been an incredible journey,” said Cassel, team lead at Cassel Games. “There were tough times, but the feedback and support from our players gave us the motivation to push through. We’re now putting the final touches on the game, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.”

Ratopia is currently available in demo and Early Access form on Steam. The official launch will include a 20% launch discount, and the price will increase after the promotion ends.
