The 91-rated (Metacritic) roguelite city builder passes a major sales milestone as the studio works towards first DLC

Hooded Horse is proud to share that Against the Storm, the excellent dark fantasy roguelite city builder from Polish studio Eremite Games, has passed a new sales milestone: It has sold over 1 million copies on Steam to date!

Against the Storm first launched onto Steam Early Access in November 2022and the team supported the game through a rigorous schedule of bi-weekly updates. Major additions included the introduction of the Fox species and an overhaul of the world map. It left early access on December 8, 2023, and was nominated for “Best Strategy/Simulation Game” at the 27th D.I.C.E. awards earlier this year.

Eremite recently released Against the Storm’s 1.2 patch and is working through the game’s initial roadmap, which includes an expansion currently planned for later this year. Last week, the team attended GDC 2024, where they gave a post-mortem talk on how Against the Storm came to life, from mixing seemingly incompatible genres to incorporating player feedback and alternative ways of managing an indie studio.

“We find it incredibly reassuring that even such a small and relatively unknown studio like ours can thrive on Steam,” said Eremite Co-Founder Lukasz Korzanowski. “Treating players with respect and listening to their feedback has been an integral part of Against the Storm’s success.”

Against the Storm is available now for PC via SteamGOGEpic Games Store, and PC Game Pass for $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3,980. It currently holds a 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam with over 21,000 reviews. A press kit is available.
