The Arcade Crew and Splashteam have revealed Acornia: Mirror Worlds, a shop-management and action-adventure hybrid starring a squirrel who fights evil spirits with baked goods.
Yes, really.
Announced during Opening Night Live, Acornia: Mirror Worlds is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The game follows Alva, a young squirrel who runs a dessert shop in a village built inside a tree. After spending a long time away, she returns home to discover that corruption from the Duramen dimension has spread through the village and driven many residents away.
Naturally, the solution involves rebuilding the town, running a successful pastry business and launching cakes directly at angry spirits.
Acornia: Mirror Worlds mixes shop management with dungeon crawling
As per the press release, Alva needs to keep her dessert shop running to earn the money required to rebuild her home.
However, she will also venture into dark dungeons within the Duramen dimension, where she can defeat hostile spirits and cleanse the corruption affecting the village.
Thankfully, Alva isn’t heading into battle empty-pawed.
Her pastries double as weapons, so players can stuff her cheeks with cakes, crumbles and other treats before heading into a dungeon. Those desserts can then be fired directly at enemies.
It is perhaps not the intended purpose of a cake, but needs must.
As Alva expands the shop and improves its reputation, she will unlock new recipes and gain even more edible ammunition to throw around.
Bake, farm and automate your squirrel-powered bakery
Of course, somebody still has to make all those pastries.
Players can grow and harvest their own ingredients through farming, craft new treats and welcome customers into Alva’s shop. As the business expands, Alva can also hire employees to handle different jobs.
Staff members can automate parts of the dessert shop, freeing Alva up to focus on other tasks. Presumably, those tasks include saving reality with weaponised pudding.
Running out of pastries during a dungeon trip isn’t necessarily the end, either. Alva can swallow enemies and then use them to attack her next opponent.
Apparently, squirrels are ruthless entrepreneurs.
As Acornia: Mirror Worlds progresses, players will also help neighbours and take part in seasonal events. Completing more tasks will make Alva stronger while helping her desserts earn increasingly positive reviews.
Acornia: Mirror Worlds is being developed by Splashteam, the studio behind Tinykin and Splasher, with The Arcade Crew handling publishing duties.
The game will launch across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
If you’ve ever looked at a delicious crumble and thought it would make an effective weapon against supernatural corruption, congratulations. Your time has finally come.
