IO Interactive has released a free new DLC update for 007 First Light, adding New Game+, a tougher 00 difficulty mode, Photo Mode, new TacSim missions and some extra gameplay tweaks.
The update, titled Extended Operations, is available now and brings several features requested by players since launch.
Chief among them is New Game+, which unlocks after completing the campaign on any difficulty. Players can then replay the story from the beginning or from any completed checkpoint while keeping access to unlocked outfits and gadgets.
00 difficulty turns the pressure up
Finishing the campaign also unlocks the new 00 difficulty mode, which makes stealth, combat and social encounters more punishing.
Enemies react more quickly to bodies and disturbances, tougher guard variants can appear, and gadget use is restricted when guards have a clear line of sight.
Combat is harsher too. Bond can be killed in two hits, parry and side-step windows are tighter, and players gain less agency during fights.
Thankfully, New Game+ and 00 difficulty are not tied together. Players can still carry unlocked outfits and gadgets into Easy, Normal or Hard replays if they fancy the customisation without quite so much suffering.
Aston Martin Valhalla joins new TacSim missions
Extended Operations also expands TacSim with the previously teased Valhalla Protocol content.
Across four missions set in the Slovakian Mountains, players can drive the Aston Martin Valhalla during both day and night challenges. The car comes equipped with the same weaponry Bond uses during the main campaign, which can be used to take down targets and chase better times.
There is also a new TacSim mission set at The Pearl in Vietnam. Bond is tasked with infiltrating a guarded villa to recover classified documents, with the full property now open for play.
That includes the rooftop, while the villa interior has also been redesigned to provide more stealth options.
TacSim has received another useful upgrade too, with the full weapon arsenal from the main campaign now available across its missions.
Photo Mode finally arrives
A full Photo Mode is also included in the free update.
Players can pause the action at any point and adjust character poses, camera position, lenses, brightness, filters, backgrounds, logos and UI visibility.
In other words, anyone who has spent more time lining up screenshots than actually completing objectives now has official support.
Extended Operations also improves weapon handling animation fidelity.
There is one other small but potentially painful change. Enemies are no longer the only ones who can be thrown from ledges, meaning Bond can now suffer the same fate if players get careless.
007 First Light is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with multiple editions available. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is currently planned for March 2027.
