Okay so this isn’t a review of Hades, that article will be coming to this website very very soon but I just wanted to take a moment of your time to let you all know that: Hades is, without shadow of a doubt, the best game I have played on my Nintendo Switch console and PERHAPS the best game I have played in 2020.
It’s no secret that I absolutely adore Roguelites, gaining new abilities and stats to ever chip away away a little bit further with the risk of losing everything is something that a big fat soulsborne fan like me is always going to adore.
But that’s not the thing that makes Hades so so so SOOOO good. What makes it good, no GREAT, is that Hades has this tight as all hell roguelite gameplay but it bundles it in with one of my favourite stories I have played all year and it just so happens to be one of the sexiest games I have played on my switch.
I am going to refrain from telling you anything about the story though because the twists and turns in the narrative and everything that’s going on with it should only be experienced first hand whilst you actually play through the game.
Can I also take a moment to just appreciate how god damn sexy Zagreus is? Jesus christ get right in my pants please you little minx.
Hades combat is mostly very simple and consists of the standard fare we have come to expect from Isometric RPGs but it’s the additional complexities hidden within that make it so satisfying to chip just 1% further each playthrough.
This game has infected my every thought and I found myself playing it until 4am, something that only the rare few games I come across manages to do in my old age of 29 years old.
