Another topic this week which is bound to make Team Respawn’s brains hurt, but we only ask the hard hitting questions in these features so let’s see what Aqua has to say about their pick for the best starter type!
AQUA
You know what, I think someone need to look out for the little guy, the long forgotten redheaded step child of pokemon, the grass starters. Bulbasaur was a legitimate good start for gen 1 and while lacking the raw power of Charmanders line or the early versatility of Squirtle, Bulbasaur paid it back further down the line! Sure following games might have left grass wanting a little bit, particularly more recent games, but it’s hard to argue that the grass boys aren’t at the very least the jack of all trades on the professor’s table and I love them for that.
PLASMA
Best starter type is such an incredibly cruel topic that I’m going to have to go with my gut and blurt out the first option which came to mind: Fire! Cyndaquil and Fennekin are my two favourite starters ever, and from what I’ve seen of it so far, Scorbunny looks set to join them. I do have a lot of love for the Water type but Fire just beats it for me, purely coming down to how much enjoyment I had using them.
I will concede that the triple threat of Fire / Fighting final forms is beyond lazy on Game Freak’s part but at least the designs of them went some way to make up for it.
FLARE
I don’t think I have to take up too much of your time with this one. Squirtle and Piplup are Water starters, ergo, Water wins. Enough said!
