After waiting for what feels like forever, Final Fantasy 7’s remake is finally in our hands and on our screens and one conversation that we had here at Respawning was how best to consume the game. Whilst our sensibilities are telling us we should take our time and savour the game, is that something we will actually do? or are we going to eat all our sweets in one go and hit it all as much as possible.

Well I thought it would be a good idea to round up a few opinions to help alleviate any guilt you guys may feel from either option and show us what we all think of the game ahead of this.

I’ll start first….

I thought I was going to savour the game and really take my time with it, however the second I heard the opening music I knew this wasn’t going to be the case. After sinking 13 hours into it in Day 1 I think it is safe to say that I am going to be binging this game over the bank holiday weekend and will have it gone by the end of the week.

Final Fantasy 7 Launch Guide: Where To Find It In Stock, Special ...

I think I will force myself to go after the Platinum of this as well just to have as much of it as I can and play for as long as possible.

I can’t wait to get back to it!

This is going to be a special game for me and while the reviews have been positively mixed, this is an opportunity to relive my childhood – FINAL FANTASY VII was my first entry into the series and was given to me by a family friend.

Over the years I have revisited the original game and while it’s a classic, it hasn’t exactly aged well. The visuals are still spectacular, but the dialogue is something else. It’s amazing going back to it now, how the translation of the game was handled!

Set timer to 20 or 30 minutes in Final Fantasy 7 Remake? | Shacknews

This is going to be my chance to re-experience the game again, in a way which wasn’t possible back in 1997 and I’m sure it’s going to blow my mind – I just have have to be careful that I’m not disappointed and realistically, that’s why I’ve stayed away from the majority of the trailers which have surfaced over the last few months. I’m going to genuinely enjoy playing through this and I’ll be fuelled by nostalgia. It’s going to be another one of those games which I will want to savour every moment but I will devour this game!

It’s being released over a bank holiday weekend, of course I’m going to have this completed by the end of the long weekend period.

Because I’m off work I’ll consume it like I’m consuming food, alcohol, and just about everything else. Too much too quickly. If I love the game I’ll most likely get addicted to it and finish it too soon, I obviously hope not but I’m trapped indoors so why the hell not eh! I want it to hook me in and make me feel like I’m going to play nothing else tbh!

I don’t necessarily feel like I’m desperate for this game as I never played the original, however as you’ll see from my video on YouTube (here) I am a huge fan of the series and I LOVED the egx demo (yes I’m still banging on about that) and I love the characters. I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone else loves about this story and am completely ready to be enveloped by it. Take me cloud, I’m all yours.

How to Get Squat Mini-Game High Score in FF7 Remake

I’ll level with you, I never played FF7 the first time around. I KNOW! I’m a heathen. How can I call myself a gaming journalist? Easily, because I still respect 7 for what it was, I watched multiple play throughs and researched the lore like a historian on crank.

So now is my chance to live through this story in a way that better suits my play style (smashy smashy) and looks about a gorgeous as I’m sure we all insist the original looked in our rose tinted memories. I for one plan to slowly make my way through this title. The episodic nature makes me worry that it could be short and I don’t want to just sprint on through the whole thing and feel like I wasted my money on what should be a fairly lengthy RPG by all accounts. However, I’m well aware of my habits when it comes to games I enjoy it am excited for. I’ll be up till the wee hours playing this and will devour all it has to offer. Just hoping that it has more than just a pretty look and some fun voice acting though. Some real substance to keep me going, like oatmeal…
