If you enjoy opening card packs just a little too much, Rip It! Card Collector might be your next obsession. The relaxing card-collecting incremental game from Cybernetic Walrus, the studio behind Roadside Research, is out now on Steam.
The launch follows a successful demo that ranked among the 50 most-played games during Steam Next Fest. Clearly, there’s an appetite for collecting virtual cardboard.
In Rip It! Card Collector, you’ll tear open packs, organise your pulls and slowly fill a binder containing 1,809 hand-drawn collectibles. There are standard cards, ultra-rare editions, foils, metallics and special promos to hunt down.
Naturally, you’ll end up with plenty of duplicates along the way. Fortunately, you can sell those unwanted cards for profit and put the money towards improving your collection setup.
Rip It! Card Collector Lets You Automate Your Card-Collecting Addiction
What starts as a humble desktop operation can eventually become a fully automated card-sorting machine.
As you add cards to your binder, you’ll earn XP and Gadget Points. These can be spent on increasingly elaborate upgrades for your retro-futuristic workstation.
Eventually, you can load entire cases into your Rip Rig and watch it spit out cards ready for sorting. It’s a fairly impressive upgrade from opening packs one at a time.
Of course, there’s no pressure to automate everything. Rip It! Card Collector has no timers, allowing you to play at your own pace. You can manually slot cards into your binder, admire the artwork and listen to your retro radio while you work.
And if there’s one particularly elusive card refusing to appear, the Black Market offers another way to track down those missing collectibles.
