SEGA has rolled out fresh details on the next wave of free downloadable content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, with new racers, vehicles and jukebox tracks lined up as part of the wider Patch 3 Update.

As per the press release, the update goes live on Wednesday, 19 March, and the free post-launch lineup pulls in more familiar faces from across the SEGA universe. So yes, things are about to get even more chaotic in the best possible way.

Red, Majima and Arle join the grid

First up is Red from Angry Birds, who arrives in April 2026 as a playable character. He is bringing the Super Roaster vehicle with him, because subtlety was never really the plan here.

Also due in April 2026 is Goro Majima (Captain Majima), joining the roster with the Goromaru vehicle. That is already one of the more unhinged additions to a racing line-up, which feels about right.

Then in May 2026, Arle from Puyo Puyo joins the race alongside the Twinkle Bayoen vehicle. It is a strong mix already, and clearly SEGA is not interested in taking the predictable route.

Eight new songs are also on the way

Patch 3 is not just adding characters. SEGA says players will also get eight new songs for the in-game jukebox, pulling from a stack of classic titles while you tear around the track.

The new additions are:

  • MAGICAL SOUND SHOWER by Hiro, from OutRun
  • Let’s Go Away by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, from Daytona USA
  • Soul on Desert by Jun Senoue, from SEGA Rally 2
  • Like The Wind (B Course) Arcade Version by Hiro, from Power Drift
  • Outside a Crisis by SEGA, Katsuhiro “Funky K.H” Hayashi, from Super Hang-On
  • Main Theme (Enduro Racer) by Hiro, from Enduro Racer
  • God Only Knows by A-One
  • Like the Wind (Reborn) by Sampling Masters MEGA, from Power Drift

That is a tidy little nostalgia bomb, really.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available now in digital and physical form on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, starting at £64.99. It is also out on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch OLED Model and Nintendo Switch Lite from £54.99.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available digitally for £64.99, while the physical version lands on 26 March 2026.

For SEGA, the message here is simple enough: more free content is coming, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is leaning harder into that big crossover energy. Which, frankly, is exactly what a game called CrossWorlds should be doing.
