Moon Studios, the team behind the Ori series, has revealed a brand-new trailer for No Rest for the Wicked Together—a co-op multiplayer update for their dark and stylish action-RPG. The update launches January 22, 2026, and promises a whole new way to explore the game’s hand-painted world with friends.

The trailer, offers a first real look at how co-op will work in this beautifully brutal adventure. Up to four players can now team up in persistent realms, with revamped combat, shared housing, and some cheeky new mechanics to keep things interesting.

Co-op, but with a twist

In No Rest for the Wicked Together, you and up to three other players can share a persistent Realm. That means your world continues even if the original host goes offline. It’s proper co-op, without the usual tethering or hosting faff.

You’ll face smarter, more reactive enemies. Enemy AI has been tuned to deal with groups more naturally, and some baddies have even been moved to new locations. Expect surprises, even if you’ve already played.

There’s also more to do between battles. Players can share housing, shop at updated vendors, and use a voting system to keep group decisions civil—yes, even if someone’s trying to light everything on fire.

What’s new in this update?

  • True Persistent Co-op: Play together in shared realms that don’t need a host to stay online.
  • Smarter Enemies: Updated AI and hand-picked placements mean harder, more dynamic fights.
  • Shared Progression: Build, craft, and upgrade your homes as a team.
  • Peacekeeping Tools: A simple voting system helps avoid griefing and keeps play fair.
  • General Improvements: Expect a raft of quality-of-life fixes alongside the big features.

A quick catch-up on No Rest for the Wicked

Currently in Early Access on Steam, No Rest for the Wicked is Moon Studios’ third game. It blends tense soulslike combat with RPG progression, all wrapped in a gorgeous, painterly art style.

You play as a Cerim, a warrior of a sacred order sent to stop a dark plague known as the Pestilence. The story unfolds on Isola Sacra, an island already cracking under the weight of political unrest and death.

Craft gear, customise your character, and survive deadly foes as you carve your path through a beautifully broken world.
