Earlier today, the ASA has confirmed that due to various complaints directed towards the Advertising Standards Authority about Hello Games, that the organisation is now leading a legal investigation into Hello Games’ (And affiliated marketing partners) advertisement of No Man’s Sky – This includes the various trailers published for the game, content on their Steam page, and promotional materials they provided affiliates such as Sony.

This investigation comes after numerous complaints about Hello Games’ advertising for the game, with many rightfully claiming is as slanderous, misleading and not representative of the released product.

As Eurogamer cited, the Advertising Standards Authority withholds the legal ability to have advertisements that the organisation believes are in breach of its code of conduct withdrawn, and prevent them from appearing again. The ASA also has the ability, if an advertiser refuses to comply, to impose various sanctions, such as eliminating their advertising revenue generated from these pieces of material.
