With the success of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening still rolling in, it’s gotten me thinking about which of the previous games I’d like to see remade and ported for the Nintendo Switch!

My understanding is that Link’s Awakening has been remade due to its increasingly difficult availability, and although you can get it on the 3DS via the Virtual Console, it’s still an issue for modern gamers… And I’m already loving the way the game looks! I think the art style is just perfect for that balance between Zelda and Mario, and it just looks super super cute!

I unfortunately haven’t been able to get my hands on the game yet, due to being in a major crunch time at university, but when the air clears and I have more time in a couple of weeks, I’ll be so excited to jump in! Here are the other games I’d like to see remade on the Nintendo Switch in the meanwhile:

The Legend of Zelda (Original)

Origin of the “it’s dangerous to go alone!” meme and the beginning of it all! The Legend of Zelda was a sweet little open adventure game, tasking with players to work your way through all the world’s dungeons, save Hyrule, and the Princess Zelda… You know, the usual! You had to collect the 8 shards of the Triforce of Wisdom from the dungeons, and go about your merry way – Your hero’s journey includes bombing every single piece of wall in hopes it has a secret cave (Or just googling the locations), and fighting the first iterations of some of the monsters we now know and love!

The game is charming in its original incarnation, and I guess some would argue that it doesn’t need to be touched because of this, but I think a remake would be great for all the newer fans of the series!

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons / Oracle of Ages

These games linked together naturally, which is really cool and again, similar to The Legend of Zelda (Original), are now much less accessible, although they are available through the 3DS still. You either control the seasons or time in each respective game, and the whole story is not complete until you have finished both games – A remake could contain both games for the player to run through, kinda like the Crash and Spyro remakes! I really like the idea of a story told across two games, and two lands.

I think these two games have a really unique and interesting dimension to them that you don’t really see elsewhere – I think it’s quite a bold choice to split a story into two games like this and release them both at the same time!

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

This was my first Zelda game and I absolutely loved it! You shrunk down into a pint-sized version of Link and went on an adventure with the Picori; tiny people who are only visible to children. The game was played across the two different worlds, the regular sized one and the miniature Picori one – I have really fond memories of this game, and whilst I don’t see a remake coming for a long time, the original still looks beautiful even with today’s standards..!

This would be a super awesome addition though; perhaps it’ll even get a port!

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

I’ll keep this brief – I haven’t had the chance to play this one, but I know it sits quite highly among fans; many people I speak to say it’s their absolute favourite! It would be nice to see it ported to the Switch, though, as I never had the chance to experience this gem!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Again, another game held in quite high regard that I have not had the chance to play!

Lots of people love this one too and I would be surprised if it didn’t see itself ported over to the Switch in the coming years, especially with the IR camera motion controls! Make it happen Nintendo!!

So that’s my list of Zelda games that I’d love to see on the Switch! Do you have any favourites you’d like to re-experience? Let me know in the comments below..!
