Zenless Zone Zero is about to crank things up with its next update, Version 2.2, charmingly titled “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.” Launching September 4, this one’s bringing in the Obol Squad—a shiny new faction led by Colonel Isolde and packed with S-Rank agents who aren’t here to mess around.

Meet the Obol Squad

Front and center is Seed, a genius mechanic rocking an S-Rank Electric mecha that basically doubles as your own portable weapons platform. He’s all about chaining damage and turning every fight into a fireworks display.

Then there’s Orphie & Magus, a fiery tag-team and captain of the squad. She deals in laser spam, EX attacks, and squad buffs that put the whole team into a Zeroed In state—translation: your crew hits harder, faster, and ignores a chunk of enemy defense. Alongside them rolls Mercury, a tank-driving Bangboo who brings battlefield support with, you guessed it, a big freakin’ tank.

Oh, and don’t worry—familiar faces like Trigger (Electric Stun) and Evelyn (Fire Attack) are back for this patch too. Soldier 0 – Anby is still training in the background, with hints she’ll return stronger in a future version.

New Events: From Tower Defense to Beat Drops

  • Band of Brave Bangboo: A tower-defense twist with new maps, enemies, and miasma-filled hazards. Beat it and earn the A-Rank Excaliboo, a Bangboo that hilariously tries to pull a sword from a stone before every fight. Success = giant sword swings. Failure = hammer time.
  • Rhythm Rave: Because even ARPG agents deserve a night out. Match beats, chase high scores, and scoop up rewards while vibing to classic tracks.

Quality-of-Life Goodies

Version 2.2 also polishes the player experience. Now you can pick between Belle or Wise before starting events like Quality Time invites—because sometimes, choice matters.
